Executive Committee
The SEAICRN Executive Committee (EC) is chaired by the Network Director and includes three representatives from each member country in the region, a representative from the NIAID, The Wellcome Trust, University of Oxford, WHO (observer), FHI 360 and Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. whose role is to support the technical and administrative management aspects of the Network.
The Primary Responsibilities of the EC are:

Submitting strategic plans to the Governing Board for approval

Establishing and communicating strategic goals and objectives to advance the mission of the Network

Managing Network-wide administrative issues, external relations and interactions with national or international media, expansion of Network-related training capacity and Network publication and presentation policies

Holding decision-making authority for the Network within the parameters set by the Governing Board and in line with the strategic plan
-
Resolving Network barriers and conflicts
-
Ensuring effective communication throughout the Network
-
Delegating authorities and responsibilities to Network committees
-
Evaluating concept submissions and full study proposals, and providing comments back to Principal Investigator (PI), and Scientific Committee (SC) within a strict timeline

Providing oversight to scientific and operational activities of clinical research studies implemented by the SEAICRN

He got his MD from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, his PhD from Bristol University, UK and did One-year-Post doc. at CDC Atlanta Diseases under Dr. Roger Glass supervision. Dr. Aman is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Microbiology, University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He is also a member of the Steering Committee of INA-RESPOND, the Indonesia Research Partnership on Infectious Disease"

"Prof. Pratiwi Pujilestari Sudarmono, MD, PhD earned her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia, Jakarta in 1976. She then received her PhD in Molecular Biology from Osaka University, Japan. After returning from Japan, in 1985 she went to Walter Reed Army Research Unit, Washington DC, USA for post doctoral work in enteric bacteria research. In 1992 she attained recognition as a Clinical Microbiologist Specialist and was appointed as Professor of Microbiology in the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia in 2007. She received the Fullbright New Century Scholarship in 2001-2002 and conducted collaborative research in tropical diseases in the John Hopkins University, USA. Currently she is the Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia and is a Professor od the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia. Prof. Pratiwi is also the Steering Committee member of INA RESPOND, the Indonesia Research Partnership on Infectious Disease: and Executive Committee member of the SEAICRN" |

"Dr. Kulkanya Chokephaibulkit graduated from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok in 1985. She obtained Pediatric Infectious Disease fellowship training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 1992-1993, and served as Chief Resident at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1993-1994. She has been Thai and American board certified in Pediatrics and American board certified in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Currently, she is a Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Infectious Diseases Division, Department of Pediatrics. Her current duties involve teaching, research, and direct patient care. She also serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society of Thailand, the National Board for Immunization of the Ministry of Public Health, and the Advisory Board of the National Security Health Office (NHSO) for HIV/AIDS. She has been a consultant of the Thai Ministry of Public Health on the issues of pediatric and adolescent HIV and PMTCT. She led the development of disclosure program which is widely implemented in Thailand and neighboring countries. Another prominent work is the comprehensive program for HIV-infected adolescents to promote knowledge and life-skill. Her research programs involve pediatric and adolescent HIV/AIDS, dengue, tuberculosis, and vaccine clinical trials" |

"Dr Warunee Punpanich Vandepitte completed her residency program in Pediatrics in 1997 and then pursues her career in pediatric infectious diseases. She later obtained her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of California, at Los Angeles in 2009.Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the College of Medicine, Rangsit University. She also serves as Chair of Research and Technology Assessment Unit of the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health, Thailand. Her current duties involve patient care, teaching, research, and international collaboration activities. Her research interests include vaccines, antibiotic resistance, antibiotic smart use program, clinical research, invasive bacterial infection in children."

"Dr Nguyen Van Kinh is an Infectious Diseases physician. He graduated from Hanoi Medical University as a medical doctor in 1982 and finished Internal Medicine residency at Hanoi Medical University in 1985. He completed one year fellowship on Infectious Diseases in Pasteur Paris Institute, France in 1991.
He has had many experiences on Infectious Diseases, especially in HIV/AIDS and has been PI in various research studies such as HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, dengue hemorragic fever, influenza, hand food and mouth diseases. His articles have been published in national and international journals (32 International and 57 National articles).
He is the chairman of Vietnamese Society of Infectious Disease and also the chairman of Scientific Committee-Ethic Committee of NHTD. Now, he is Director of National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) and a chief of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Hanoi Medical University"

"Dr. Phan Huu Phuc completed his residency program in Pediatrics in 2000 and then pursued his career in pediatric critical care medicine. He obtained his PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2012. Currently, he serves as Deputy Head, Medical Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital of Pediatrics in Hanoi, Vietnam and also responsible for Clinical Research Division of the Research Institute for Child Health. His current duties involve direct patient care, teaching, research, and international collaboration activities. His research interests include clinical & epidemiology of sepsis/septic shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and infectious diseases in critically ill children."

"Dr Thwaites qualified from Cambridge University and the United Medical and Dental schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ and trained in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology in Brighton, the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) in Viet Nam, Imperial College London, and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London. His research interests focus on the management of severe bacterial infections, especially those involving the central nervous system. He has held Wellcome Trust Training (2001-2004) and Intermediate (2006-2011) Fellowships to study tuberculosis, and is currently chief investigator and co-investigator respectively for two large, multi-centre, NIHR-funded, randomised controlled controls investigating adjunctive rifampicin for S. aureus bacteraemia (the ARREST trial), and intravenous versus oral antibiotics for bone and joint infections (the OVIVA trial) in the UK. He is founder and Chairman of the UK Clinical Infection Research Group (UKCIRG).
Between 2011 and 2013 he was a Reader in Infectious Diseases at King’s College London and Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. In October 2013 he returned to Viet Nam to take over from Jeremy Farrar as the Director of OUCRU"
