SEAICRN Training Course: Research Methods
Thailand and Viet Nam
This new exciting 5-day training course was carried out in Thailand between the 13-17 April and in Viet Nam between the 20-25 April. The course was very practical with numerous exercises. It addressed key areas in research including but not restricted to developing research questions and formulating hypotheses or sampling desing and sample size calculations. The course received 12 participants from Thailand and 24 participants from Viet Nam.
The trainers and facilitators for these sessions were Dr. Cynthia Waszak Geary and Dr. Lisa Dulli both from FHI 360. Dr. Geary is the Director of the Social and Behavioural Health Sciences Department at FHI 360 and also recently served as the Director of the Prevention Technologies Agreement, a cooperative agreement from USAID focused on HIV prevention. Dr. Dulli is a Scientist in FHI 360's Department of Program Sciences, Health Services Research, based in North Carolina. She serves as principal investigator for research studies on a variety of public health topics. Recent studies include a cluster-randomized control trial of a behavioral intervention designed to reduce unmet contraceptive need among post-partum women in Rwanda and a quasi-experimental study of integrated sexual and reproductive health service targeting female sex workers in Kenya.
