Mission and Objectives
The
South East Asia Infectious Disease Clinical Research Network (SEAICRN) strives to advance the scientific knowledge and clinical management of infectious diseases in the region of SE Asia
through integrated and collaborative clinical research.
SEAICRN's objectives include:
(1) building a multilateral, collaborative network based on shared principles of respect, sharing and commitment to improve patient management through quality clinical research
(2) conducting protocol-based, multi-institutional studies in human influenza in accord with international standards
(3) enhancing international capacities for the conduct of clinical research
(4) promptly disseminating information and sharing samples with the aim of improving human health with the approval of the relevant national ministries of health and other relevant national authorities.
Scope
The clinical research studies may include those related to diagnosis, pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention of human influenza and emerging infectious disease in the region. The Network aim is to produce evidence that will help to inform health policies and clinical practice.
The Network is committed to enhancing the clinical research capacity of individuals and institutions within the Network which will include scientific training, leadership, management, conduct, administration, and oversight of studies. Examples include trainings for participating members in conducting studies according to international guidelines; developing laboratory and diagnostic expertise; enhancing institutional support structures for conducting and overseeing studies; and, establishment of internal quality assurance and quality control systms. The current focus of activities on human influenza infections due to human or avian influenza viruses will expand to include other emerging infectious diseases of public health importance for participating countries.
